Stay safe this Summer
Transcript of Stay Safe Message from Craig Armitage
“For most of us January is the time for fun in the outdoors. But tragically it is also the deadliest month in New Zealand workplaces.
“The loss of loved ones, the suffering of family and friends and the wider social and economic impacts of workplace deaths are immeasurable – and that’s why we’re focussing on the message of ‘taking care’ so that workers come home safely.
“It’s not just the human toll from deaths and serious injuries in workplaces, there’s a huge financial implication for their families, for their businesses and for the wider community.
“And having a safe workplace makes good business sense. Research clearly shows that safe workplaces are productive workplaces. So we’re very keen for people to think about the coming year and if they’re going to be making New Years resolutions then it’s time for them to start thinking about taking care to make sure that workplaces are safer and safe places to be in 2009.”
