Philippa Branthwaite

Philippa Branthwaite.

Philippa is an experienced and effective facilitator and training consultant, and has worked for a range of government, union, and industry training organisations.

The focus of her work has been on employment relations and skill development. Philippa specialises in assisting people to work more constructively by using a problem-solving approach to manage and resolve conflict. Philippa developed the partnership Resource Centre’s  (PRC) Joint Problem Solving Training Programme, and has worked with this programme on a wide range of PRC projects. She has also extended this work into the area of collective negotiations.

Philippa has developed and implemented organisation, education and development plans for two large state unions—the NZEI and the NZNO—and was involved in the development of an academic mentoring programme for women at Victoria University.

Philippa has been part of the Department of Labour’s Partnership for Quality project, and has worked with the PSA on developing a National Certificate in Public Sector Employment Relations (Partnership for Quality).  She works extensively in the areas of EEO and pay and employment equity, across the state, health, and education sectors, and works with health sector providers across the country on how to assess professional portfolios.

As a facilitator, she is skilled at creating a safe environment where ideas and differences can be explored in a structured, but open way.
