Living costs in New Zealand

New migrants often find that New Zealand offers a better balance between cost of living and lifestyle than they had before.

Mercer’s 2010 Cost of Living Survey ranks cities worldwide – 1st place being the most expensive place to live. The survey lists Auckland (149) and Wellington (163) far better than many other major cities. Such cities included Los Angeles (55), New York (27) and Copenhagen (10) – showing that comparatively, New Zealand’s major metropolitan areas are more affordable than those in many US or European countries.

Feel free to compare prices for some standard items or compare and convert costs into your own currency.
