Rugby in New Zealand

Rugby is a favourite pastime of New Zealanders and there are two popular versions of the game played here - Union and League.

Rugby Union is the traditional form of play and our national team is called the All Blacks. Considered a top team, the All Blacks compete internationally.

Rugby League is a derivative of Rugby Union and popular throughout New Zealand. New Zealand's only professional team are the Warriors who compete within the National Rugby League.

Whether you want to watch or play, there's plenty of opportunity to get involved. Visit the New Zealand Rugby Union or the New Zealand Rugby League website for more information.
